Integrate RLM counters securely and with future-proof capabilities via the CLS channel

The digitalisation of the energy market is also changing the requirements for registered power measurement (RLM). The iRLMSys introduces a new regulatory framework that enables secure communication via smart metering systems, thereby paving the way for a future-proof, standardised infrastructure. VIVAVIS supports this transition with an end-to-end solution for the integration and reading of RLM meters via the CLS channel of the smart meter gateway.

The energy sector faces the challenge of gradually transitioning existing RLM infrastructures into the smart meter environment. In this context, communication via the smart meter gateway and the CLS channel is becoming increasingly important. iRLMSys establishes the regulatory and technical framework for this and enables a secure, standardised connection of RLM metering points to the smart metering infrastructure without the need for extensive back-end upgrades.

The VIVAVIS solution preserves established remote meter reading processes. Data collection continues to take place within the familiar systems, whilst communication will in future be handled via the CLS channel of the smart meter gateway. Initial end-to-end tests with various meter manufacturers have already been successfully carried out and demonstrate that implementation is straightforward, tried and tested, and reliable.

By utilising the existing smart meter infrastructure, current processes can continue whilst regulatory requirements are met. Network operators, metering point operators and energy service providers benefit from a future-proof solution that safeguards existing investments and significantly reduces the cost of migration.

Our colleagues in the sales department would be happy to explain the benefits of our ZFA solution within the RLM environment during a face-to-face meeting. Please do get in touch.
