VIVAVIS and Sagemcom Dr Neuhaus ensure interoperability between the control box and the smart meter gateway
VIVAVIS and Sagemcom Dr Neuhaus have successfully achieved interoperability between their hardware systems. The coordinated solution lays an important foundation for grid-oriented control in accordance with Section 14a of the Energy Industry Act (EnWG). At the same time, it supports the controllability of consumption installations in accordance with Section 9 of the Energy Industry Act (EnWG) and thus the further roll-out of smart metering systems.
VIVAVIS AG and Sagemcom Dr. Neuhaus GmbH have ensured the interoperability of the VIVAVIS STBF-24B control box with the Sagemcom SICONIA® SMARTY IQ-LTE SMGW. This was achieved through close collaboration between the two companies during the development and testing of the respective firmware versions. The aim of the collaboration was to enable reliable communication between the control box and the smart meter gateway. The control box firmware, which was adapted for this purpose, was recertified by the BSI on 10 September 2026. Newly ordered control boxes are already equipped with the relevant firmware upon delivery.
By successfully ensuring interoperability, VIVAVIS and Sagemcom Dr Neuhaus are laying an important foundation for the roll-out of smart metering systems in conjunction with control solutions in accordance with the requirements of Section 14a of the Energy Industry Act. Furthermore, both companies are already in discussion to ensure interoperability for future generations of devices as well. As part of the development of the next generation of smart meter gateways based on Sagemcom Dr. Neuhaus’s TR 2.0 standard – the SICONIA® SMARTY SMGW – the collaboration will continue, ensuring that customers can continue to rely on compatible and future-proof solutions.
